Speech-Language Therapy

Our skilled therapists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric speech and language disorders, including articulation disorders, phonological disorders, treatment for Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), fluency disorders/stuttering, and voice disorders. Our providers use the latest research and therapy techniques, while motivating children with fun and engaging toys and materials. Data is recorded each and every session and parents are consistently updated each visit regarding progress made and next steps.

We specialize in children with complex needs as well, such as those with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and genetic syndromes. Our therapists are experienced in behavior management and facilitating success by meeting each child where he or she is at and working toward functional and effective communication. We use visual earn systems, Augmentative/Alternative Communication (AAC), and shaping techniques to guide our young patients through the therapy process. Please contact us to discuss your child’s specific speech and language needs.

Feeding Therapy

We provide therapy for children with feeding and swallowing challenges. Therapy is directed towards children with feeding aversions (refusal to try new foods, dropping of previously accepted foods, sensory reactions to foods, extremely limited diet, gagging, excessive wiping of hands), swallowing difficulties (advancing textures), and oral motor challenges (improving oral-motor strength and function). Potential goals for therapy include increasing foods accepted, adding food groups to a child’s diet, increasing flexibility and decreasing rigidity during mealtimes, and promoting safe and pleasant mealtimes for children and families.

With therapists trained in both behavioral and sensory based feeding techniques, such as techniques based on the Sequential Oral Sensory Program (SOS Program), our therapy encourages safe eating habits and enjoyable mealtimes. Additionally, we offer facilitative feeding groups to encourage generalization and the practice of learned skills, such as “Lunch Bunch” groups. Contact our offices in Dover and Lewes for more information on our feeding therapy services.

Occupational Therapy

We provide therapy to enhance fine motor skills, sensory processing, and daily functional abilities. With therapists skilled in facilitating sensory regulation and functional skills, such as handwriting, shoe tying, and dressing, we help children develop independence in everyday activities for success at home and in school. Data is recorded each session and families are involved in goal development and treatment planning.

Our expert occupational therapists and COTAs use varied tools and strategies to address student needs. Our office features swing options, climbing structures, sensory exploratory play activities (sand, water, beads, foams, foods, etc.), vestibular tools (fidget toys, weighted items, spinning floor toys, balance materials, and other fun and engaging materials. Therapy is conducted both at table top and on the floor – where children love to be! Please call the office to discuss your child’s specific occupational therapy needs..

Social Skills Training

We offer programs designed to improve interpersonal communication and social interactions. Therapies may include Dyad Sessions (two children together) or Small Group Sessions (3+ children together) led by a therapist with expertise in facilitating social skill development. We carefully pair social skills partners to ensure that the children’s target skills are compatible.

Targets include making friends, increasing flexibility with others, engaging in mutual play, participating in conversations, and becoming more comfortable in group social situations. Social groups may have specific foci, such as Lego Groups, Minecraft Groups, Gamer Groups, and others. Please call the office for more specific information on current available social skills sessions.
